Administrative and Regulatory Law

Sanger Law provides creative and cost-effective representation to our clients in all legal forums, including before cities, agencies, legislatures, and the courts. We specialize in providing general legal assistance and public policy advice on complex administrative and regulatory matters. Typical administrative and regulatory matters include energy, public utility, land use, telecommunications, water, municipal, and environmental law. We represent clients before state and federal administrative bodies, including the Oregon Public Utility Commission, the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission, the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Western Electricity Coordinating Council, the Oregon Land Use Board of Appeals, the Oregon Water Resources Department, and the Oregon Department of Energy.

Our administrative and regulatory experience includes handling all aspects of agency appeals. We have assisted industrial customers, utilities, and irrigators in state and federal appeals of lower court, state administrative agency, and BPA decisions.

Our practice takes a holistic approach to meeting our clients’ needs before administrative agencies, considering both immediate needs and long-term goals. We have a proven record of successfully challenging, changing, and defending government regulation and policies. Our goal is to craft successful strategies that appropriately balance cooperative engagement with administrative litigation.
